Controlled-environment video highlights TimberTech Advanced PVC’s industry-leading fire performance compared to competitive decking products.

The controlled-environment video features the TimberTech Advanced PVC Vintage Collection, which holds a Class A Flame Spread Rating, and demonstrates its performance under direct flame exposure compared to two competitor decking products with lower flame spread ratings – a Class B capped wood-plastic composite and a Class C mineral-based composite. The results clearly demonstrate TimberTech’s Vintage Collection’s superior resistance to ignition and flame spread, highlighting its value not only for fire-conscious and climate-sensitive design, but also for everyday peace of mind—helping protect outdoor spaces from accidental ignition sources like grills or stray embers from firepits.

“TimberTech’s performance in this fire comparison test is a clear demonstration of the innovation and engineering behind our Advanced PVC decking,” said Jonathan Skelly, President, Residential and Commercial of The AZEK Company. “As fire safety and climate resilience become increasingly important in material selection, we’re proud to offer products that meet the highest performance standards— without sacrificing the beauty and design versatility professionals expect, or the low-maintenance durability homeowners rely on.”

While the Vintage Collection is featured in this test, it is just one of TimberTech’s Advanced PVC collections that offer top-rated fire performance—including Class A Flame Spread Ratings, Ignition-Resistant designations, and/or WUI Compliance.

To further support architect and design (A&D) professionals building in fire-prone regions, AZEK has also launched a new digital platform, spec.azek.com/fire, offering a centralized destination for product insights, technical documentation, CEU courses, and design resources related to fire resistance across AZEK’s full portfolio—including TimberTech Decking, Railing and Cladding, AZEK Trim and Moulding, and StruXure pergolas. Created to address pressing issues such as climate-adaptive design and wildfire resilience, the platform supports architects and designers working not only on rebuilding efforts in fire-affected regions, but also on proactively designing safer, more sustainable and resilient communities in high-risk and everyday settings alike.
